“And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.”
Acts 2:45 ESV
BOLD COMPASSION: OPEN MY EYES
Your eyes are the most complex organs you possess except for your brain. They are composed of more than two million working parts. You can process 36,000 bits of information every hour. Under the right conditions, your eyes can discern the light of a candle at a distance of 14 miles. Your eyes contribute towards 85% of your total knowledge and utilize 65% of all the pathways to the brain. Your eyes can instantaneously set in motion hundreds of muscles and organs in your body. And in a normal life-span, your eyes will bring you almost 24 million images of the world around you. (Grant Van Boeschoten)
As amazing as our eyes are, there are occasions when we need to stop and ask ourselves, “Are we really seeing the world around us?” The church was birthed with people who had spiritual eyes to see the needs around them. Acts tells us they gave “as any had need.” You have to see the need before you can give to the need.
The more we grow to be like Jesus, the more we desire to help meet various types of needs in the lives of others. Ask God to help you see a need today that you can be a part of meeting. Then do the same thing tomorrow and again the next day. You will be amazed at how just simply asking God to help you see needs will change your life.
