With His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus modeled what it meant to be a true servant who sacrificed for the good of others. At NorthStar, we have chosen to follow Jesus’ example by taking the focus off ourselves and doing whatever it takes to help people who are far away from the Lord find their way home to Him.
Jesus modeled a “no strings attached” approach to helping people in need. While some came to put their faith in Jesus after receiving His help, some didn’t. At NorthStar, we know there is no guaranteed “return on investment” when we serve people who don’t know Jesus. But, like Jesus, we will serve them anyway. All our serving will be worth it, if just one comes to faith in Christ!
Like Jesus, we never want to miss an opportunity to add value to someone’s life because we are busy doing good and necessary tasks. At NorthStar, we strive to prioritize relationships above schedules, events, and to-do lists because life is more about relationships than accomplishments.
Our worldly culture generally has low expectations for Christians and churches. By doing just 1% more than what is expected, we will become remarkable rather than invisible. When Jesus encountered people in need, He always exceeded their expectations. When we go above and beyond what people expect with our excellence and our love, we will gain their attention and their favor.
We don’t believe that any of us have arrived at the point of spiritual perfection. We are all still in the process of becoming like Jesus in the way we think and act. While God has been faithful in our past, we strive to love forward in faith to all that God has for us in the future. We believe that God’s best days for NorthStar are not behind us but in front of us. As followers of Jesus, we want to keep taking one step at a time as the Spirit leads us to do greater works than we could ever imagine!
We believe Jesus lived, died and rose again to erase sin
and give abundant life to those who abide in Him.
