You are Known

“The Lord gave me this message: “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and I appointed you as My prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah 1:4-5

It’s safe to say the vast majority of human beings from birth to adulthood have two very specific needs: to belong and to be known. Most want to achieve career success in their lives. Maybe they want to become a professional athlete or first responder or Fortune 500 CEO or an actor or actress or famous musician or author or doctor or lawyer or even a politician. I assure you, no one sets out to become a failure—rather they have a desire to have influence and achieve great success in life. They want to be set apart to do or become something great.I’m fascinated by the verse above, because just like the prophet Jeremiah, God has His eye and His finger on YOU as well. Look at the following four truths that are packed full in these two verses.God....

  • Knows You!
  • Formed You!
  • Set You Apart!
  • Appointed You!

God, the Creator of the universe, the One who spoke the world into existence and calls all the stars by name—knows you by name. Yes you! He knows every single finite detail about you. He knows the moment you wake up in the morning and He knows when you lay your head down on your pillow and go to sleep at night. His eye is closely watching you throughout the day and even while you are sleeping. He knows what will happen in your life today, tomorrow, next week, next month and next year. He formed you in the depths of your mother’s womb. Let that sink in. You are special to Him. He set you apart and He has a plan and purpose for your life. He created you to love Him—and to love your neighbor as you would love yourself. You may think you’re an accident . . . I remind you, that you are not. You are here for a far greater purpose than yourself. All that you’re searching for will only be found in the One who gave you life.God said it this way: “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13Listen closely: God knows you and loves you, unconditionally! Like hidden treasure, seek after Him and search for Him with all your heart.Be Worth Being,KevinSUBSCRIBE TO "OVER THE HUMP" DEVOTIONALKevin Burrell has worked in professional baseball as both a player and MLB scout for the past 39 years, and currently serves as an area scouting supervisor.
