Live Sent - Go and Tell

“The two women, deep in wonder and full of joy, lost no time in leaving the tomb. They ran to tell the disciples. Then Jesus met them, stopping them in their tracks. “Good morning!” He said. They fell to their knees, embraced His feet, and worshiped Him. Jesus said, “You’re holding on to Me for dear life! Don’t be frightened like that. Go and tell my brothers that they are to go to Galilee, and that I’ll meet them there.”

Matthew 28:8-10 (MSG)

Have you ever been in Awe of something or someone? Have you ever encountered or experience a situation in your life where you were full of joy, fright and excitement all at the same time, getting to see or be around someone that you’ve only admired from a distance? I have, and it was an emotion of fright, excitement and sheer joy all at the same time. As amazing as my experience was, it pales in comparison to what both Mary’s experienced in the verses above. Only days earlier they both sat at the foot of the cross watching, weeping and feeling hopeless as Jesus was being put to death. Then, three days later they encountered this same Jesus face to face, now resurrected, falling down to the ground embracing His feet and worshipping the risen Savior of the World. Fear, panic, fright and sheer joy all encased in one emotion.I’m reminded that throughout all of time and all of history, every king that ever lived demanded that the people die for him. However, only One King that ever lived came to die for the people. You see, Jesus never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family or owned a house. He didn’t go to college. He never visited a big city. He never traveled 200 miles. You want to be in Awe? Be in Awe of the One who sacrificed His life for you. Don’t disregard it. Don’t gloss over it. Don’t ignore it. Don’t minimize it. Rather, fall down, bow down in awe and adoration to the One who willingly died for you—so that you could be rightly-related with God by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone.Live Sent! . . .
