Sobering Statistics

This is alarming! A little different devotional today. I want to remind each and every person who claims to be a Christ follower, a disciple of Jesus Christ, to leverage your influence and call where God has planted you. The people God has entrusted into your care, I encourage you to please prioritize impacting their life for the Kingdom of God while you still have the opportunity. Disciple them. Teach them. Pour into them. Train them to be all that God has called them to be. Be a good steward of the spiritual responsibility that God has entrusted into your care.Barna Research Group: 59% of young adults with a Christian background had dropped out of church at some point during their 20s—many for a brief time, but some for good. Eight years later, their research reveals that the church dropout problem is still a problem. In fact, the percentage of young-adult dropouts has increased from 59% to 64% in 2021. Nearly two-thirds of U.S. 18–29-year-olds who grew up in church tell Barna Research Group they have withdrawn from church involvement as an adult after having been active as a child or teen.Wow, this is heartbreaking!—and clearly is a reflection of a more serious spiritual crisis happening in the hearts and lives of kids, who are now young adults and who grew up in an evangelical church environment in America. It is abundantly clear that Satan is alive and well, and will do anything he can to “steal, kill and destroy.” (John 10:10)According to college campus student ministry, Young Life—their statistics bear the fact that if a Christian student does not get involved in on-campus Christian activities within the first three weeks of beginning college, they seldom, if ever return to the church.
