To You, Who is Jesus?

“For a Child is born to us, a Son is given to us. The government will rest on His shoulders. And He will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Isaiah 9:6

It’s Christmas! For the disciple. The follower of Jesus Christ. The Christian—we look forward to this time of the year. We highly esteem and celebrate this life changing, unique birth that impacted history throughout all of time. The angel Gabriel said to Mary; “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.” (Luke 1:30-31 ). I feel sure Mary, a virgin, responded with something like, “Wow! Now? How?”Have you ever paused to ponder and and give serious thought to the following question . . .“To You, Who Is Jesus?”Is it just another story? Is it just another baby? Is it just another nativity scene? I came across a provoking thought from Dr. James Allen Francis. Listen closely. He wrote . . .“Here is a man who was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in another village. He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. Then for three years He was a traveling preacher. He never owned a home. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family. He never went to college. He never put His foot inside a big city. He never traveled two hundred miles from the place He was born. He never did one of the things that usually accompany greatness. He had no credentials but Himself. While still a young man, the tide of popular opinion turned against Him. His friends ran away. One denied Him. He was turned over to His enemies. He went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed upon a cross between two thieves. While He was dying, His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had on earth—His coat. When He was dead, He was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend.Twenty long centuries have come and gone, and today, He is the centerpiece of the human race and leader of a disciple making movement the past 2000 years.I am far within the mark when I say that all the armies that ever marched, all the navies that were ever built; all the parliaments that ever sat, and all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of humanity upon this earth as powerfully as has that One solitary life, Jesus Christ.”So this Christmas season, I again, ask you the following question . . .“To You, Who Is Jesus?”Personalize that question. Wrestle with it, if need be. Because God requires an answer from you. If you’re unsure, please ask. I’m here to serve you and help you “Find Your Way Home.”Merry Christmas! 🎁🎄✝️Love God! Love People!
