Our Missions Philosophy: Our philosopy for missions at NorthStar is to encourage people to "own" a piece of the ministry and catch the vision that we have for them and for people around the world.

Passion: Our passion is twofold. First, we want to share God's plan of salvation with as many people as we can that are starving for hope and love. Second, we want our mission teams to witness and experience what the Holy Spirit can do in their lives to help them grow spiritually.

Why should you go? We are commanded to go. The great commission states...."go and make disciples of all nations - Matthew 16:19. We train each team for two months prior to each trip. The training helps us grow spiritually and softens our hearts for others. Our missionary partners worldwide state that our teams are the most prepared and have the most tender hearts of any other group they work with throughout the year. As we look back on our experience after we return, we view the actual trip as a "field trip" that included some amazing time of training, learning, bonding and development of life-long friendships. Most people claim they aren't the same after experiencing a mission trip at NorthStar.

What are the requirements to go? Only one thing...to have a heart that smiles.

What if I don't want to go over seas? No problem! There are tons of great ways you can get involved helping the Missions ministry teams prepare for trips, and you can also serve locally through Acts of Kindness in our community!

ACCESS
Did you know…that there are 27 million in human slavery today? …that Atlanta is #3 in the nation in sex trafficking? …that 25,000 people are dying daily because of hunger? Come to Access and learn about how you can aid in combating these local and global issues. With over 16,000 groups of people in the world today, and 6,600 of those still considered unreached by the Gospel, knowledge of and sensitivity to other cultures is increasingly essential. Access provides an opportunity to learn about other cultures, their needs, and what NorthStar is doing to help. Join us Sunday, September 12, 2010, 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Compass Building. Families are welcome to attend and childcare is provided for young children (by reservation only). Contact marsha.james@northstarchurch.org.

Whether they concern the destructive power of floods, fires, plane crashes, nuclear power plant accidents, wars, or terrorist attacks, response volunteers are essential to human recovery and community restoration. If you are interested in helping those in crisis and would like to be a part of NorthStar's Disaster Response Team, please contact Marsha James at marsha.james@northstarchurch.org.
