Day 12 – Pray for the needs of others
“Give us this day our daily bread” – Matthew 6:11 (ESV) (Part 2)
Not only should we pray that God would give us what we need for survival and a full life, we should also pray this for others as well. The Apostle Paul said, “I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people” (1 Timothy 2:1). As he concluded his letter to the church at Thessalonica, he had a simple request: “Brothers, pray for us.” Surely Paul personally asked God to meet his own needs but he also longed for the prayers of others on his behalf. Standing in the gap and praying on behalf of others is one of the great privileges we have. In the same way that David’s mighty men (2 Samuel 23:8-39) stood with him, fought for him, and supported him, we can do the same for others in our prayers.
As you pray to your Father today, offer requests for the physical, emotional, material, relational, and spiritual needs you see in your family, friends, and associates.
