THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13
“Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.”
Hebrews 2:14-15 ESV
JESUS WANTS TO HELP US BY TAKING CARE OF OUR FEAR
A man shared a story of some hunting dogs that he had. They were good hunting dogs that he used when he went to hunt pigs in the mountains. He shared however, that the dogs, as tough as they were, were deathly afraid of chickens. I couldn’t believe it, so I asked him why. When the dogs were puppies, they lived around the chickens. The chickens at the time, were much larger than the little puppies. As a result, the chickens would bully the puppies and chase them all over the place. The young puppies learned to fear the chickens. Because of that, as strong hunting dogs, they still clung to their fear of chickens!
Satan wants us to live in fear. The Bible teaches that Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. He is a real enemy. The only weapons Satan can use are sin and death. The Bible teaches that Jesus destroyed Satan and His power by defeating sin on the cross. We no longer have to fear death, because as Christians, we are promised forgiveness and a place in heaven.
Christian song writer, Zach Williams, has a song entitled “Fear is a Liar.” In the song Zach writes,
When he told you you’re not good enough
When he told you you’re not right
When he told you you’re not strong enough
To put up a good fight
When he told you you’re not worthy
When he told you you’re not loved
When he told you you’re not beautiful
That you’ll never be enough
Fear, he is a liar
Take some time today and look up the song and listen. Let’s this be your praise song today. Give your fears to God.
