“See that you do not refuse Him who is speaking.”
Hebrews 12:25 ESV
A PASSIONATE RACE LEADS TO OBEYING
One woman wrote: “Determined to lose weight, I decided to join a fitness class that met three times a week. But no matter how much I pleaded, my husband, Keith, refused to join me. As the weeks went by, my excuses for missing most of the classes became more and more creative. On the morning of playing hooky from yet another exercise class, Keith said, “Hon, if I’d known you were going to miss this many classes, I would have joined with you.” (From the Reader’s Digest)
A fitness class or weight loss program isn’t going to do us much good if we aren’t going to show up and follow the instruction provided. Similarly, claiming we are followers of Christ but not actually following His teaching doesn’t do us much good either. Part of our decision to place our faith in Jesus is the belief that He is God and is much smarter than we are. The race of faith believes that God’s way of living life is better than our way or anybody else’s way of living life. And if that’s the case we should not only listen to what He has to say but obey what He has to say.
Yesterday, based on Hebrews 12:25, we asked the question, “What have you heard God say to you lately?” Today the question is, “Are you doing what you know God is asking you to do?” If not, ask yourself if you really believe God loves you, is wiser than you and desires what’s best for you and His glory?
