“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”
Hebrews 13:16 ESV
PRAYING FOR HOW OUR LEADERS SERVE
Graduates from Lincoln Christian University during commencement receive a diploma and a towel. The diploma marks the completion of an educational milestone; the towel signifies a lifetime of service to which graduates commit. The education the diploma signifies equips the graduates to lead. The towel, however, represents an even more important qualification for biblical leadership. Without Christ-like humility no one can lead in a biblical manner.
Jesus held a leadership seminar in John 13 by washing the disciples’ feet. After washing their feet, He said in John 13:14-15, “You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.” Jesus not only taught servant-leadership, He also modeled servant-leadership.
Who are some of the people you have seen follow Jesus’ example of servant-leadership. It has been a priority since the beginning of our church to serve our community and the nations. And it has been a priority of our leaders to lead the way in serving. Please pray that God would continue to show our leaders when and where He wants us to serve. Pray God would help you demonstrate servant-leadership in a practical way today.
