“After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.”

Luke 10:2-3 (NIV)

A heavily booked commercial flight out of Denver was canceled, and a single agent was rebooking a long line of inconvenienced travelers. Suddenly an angry passenger pushed his way to the front and slapped his ticket down on the counter. “I have to be on this flight and it has to be first class!” he insisted. “I’m sorry, sir,” the agent replied. “I’ll be happy to help you, but I have to take care of these folks first.” “Do you have any idea who I am?” he demanded in a voice loud enough for the passengers behind him to hear. Without hesitating, the gate agent smiled and picked up her public-address microphone. “May I have your attention, please?” she broadcast throughout the terminal. “We have a passenger here at the gate who does not know who he is. If anyone can help him find his identity, please come to the gate.”  (Maile Toeaina)

Jesus knows who He is and His followers know who He is and understand His character. Luke writes that we should “ask the Lord of the harvest” to send out workers to help see people saved. In order to be saved, we have to trust in the Lord for grace and mercy. And in order to see others saved we have to trust in that same Lord to use us. Our works can’t save us and our works can’t save anyone else. Only Jesus can save us. And only Jesus can save the people in our lives we would like to see come to Christ.

Jesus said in John 6:44, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.” God the Father draws people to His son, Jesus. Who do you know that you would like to see saved? Pray that God would open their hearts and begin to draw them to Jesus.
