“And falling at Jesus’ feet, he implored Him [Jesus] to come to his house…”
Luke 8:41 ESV
STRONG DADS BRING JESUS INTO THEIR HOME
Jairus knew just enough about Jesus to believe that Jesus had what his daughter needed. Jairus had heard about the people who Jesus had healed and perhaps how Jesus had calmed a storm on the sea of Galilee. Whatever he knew about Jesus’ character and ability was enough for him to want Jesus in his life and in his home.
Years ago a farmer from the interior of China had come to a mission compound where a doctor had removed the cataracts from his eyes. A few days after the farmer left, the doctor looked out his window and noticed the same man holding the end of a long rope. In single file behind him, holding to the rope, were several dozen blind Chinese whom the farmer had rounded up and led for miles to the doctor who had worked “miracles” on his eyes. Because his sight had been restored, he wanted others to experience the same thing!
Strong dads will follow the example of this farmer and Jairus when it comes to their faith. When dads experience God’s work in their own lives there will be a desire to see Jesus work in our family and friends lives. This doesn’t happen by accident. There must be intentionality if we are going to invite Jesus into our homes. This might mean reading the bible together, going to church together, praying together or asking each other what you think God is doing in your lives. Whatever it takes, invite Jesus in.
