OPTIMIZE MY MONEY: CONTROL YOUR SPENDING
Little Johnny’s grandfather was something of a philosopher and never missed an opportunity to give out bits of sage advice to his grandson. “Yes sirree, Johnny,” Grandpa said one day, “remember, fools are certain, but wise men hesitate.” “Are you sure, Grandpa?” asked Johnny. “Yes, my boy,” said the old man,…”
We aren’t sure about the future and a wise man knows that. These two verses above from Proverbs 21 give us four wise lessons: 1) Wise people plan well, 2) Wise people work hard which leads to prosperity, 3) Wise people don’t take foolish shortcuts and 4) A wise person also knows that it’s a good thing to control our spending.
Planning, hard work and financial blessings are God’s idea. None of those things are bad. However, if we take the blessings God gives us and waste them it’s considered foolishness. It could be that you honor God with your work ethic and you get things done in your career. But are you honoring God with the blessings that He is providing by the way that you are spending those blessings?
Take some time and look at your most recent banking statement. Pray over that statement and ask God if this is how He wants you to spend your blessings.
