FRIDAY, AUGUST 23
“We had to celebrate this happy day. For your brother was dead and has come back to life! He was lost, but now he is found!’”
Luke 15:32 (NLT2)
DEVELOPING THE FATHER’S HEART FOR OUTSIDERS
The boss of a big company needed to call one of his employees about an urgent problem with one of the main computers. He dialed the employee’s home telephone number and was greeted with a child’s whispered, “Hello?” The boss asked, “Is your Daddy home?” “Yes,” whispered the small voice. “May I talk with him?” the man asked. The small voice whispered, “No.” The boss asked, “Is your Mommy there?” “Yes,” came the answer. “May I talk with her?” Again, the small voice whispered, “No.” “Is there anyone there besides you?” the boss asked the child. “Yes,” whispered the child, “a policeman.” “May I speak with the policeman?” “No, he is busy too,” whispered the child. “What are they all doing?” asked the boss. The child answered “Looking for me.”
And that’s exactly what God is doing. He is looking for us. Jesus came to seek and to save the lost. Lost is the word the Bible uses to describe people who aren’t in a relationship with God. Jesus came to look for the lost and He wants those of us who have been found to join the search team. In Luke 15:32, the older son and the religious leaders didn’t share God’s heart to reach those who were lost. Ask God to give you His heart for the lost.
