FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13
“And Peter said to them, ‘Repent and be baptized…’”
Acts 2:38 (ESV)
THE FIRST DAY OF CHURCH: A CELEBRATION
A mother’s 7-year-old son was baptized at Lake Tahoe. The mother said, “With tears streaming down my face, I watched as he came out of the water, then excitedly asked if he felt any different.” “Yeah, Mom, I do,” he replied. “Now I have water up my nose!” (Leslie A. Williamson)
We know that baptism is so much more than getting water up your nose and you can even hold your nose while you’re being baptized. We have looked at the first day of the New Testament church all week and discussed how big of a role baptism played in that day. This past Sunday Pastor Mike reminded us that baptism is a celebration. Baptism celebrates …
- The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
- What Jesus has done for me.
- My new life empowered by the Spirit.
This Sunday ,September 15 at 5pm we are going to follow the New Testament example and celebrate all of those things. We are having our annual Baptism Bash with a church picnic followed up with a time of baptizing those who have never been baptized but made the decision to follow Christ. If you would like to be baptized you can get more information by going online to www.northstarchurch.org/baptismbash. There is also information on food and the celebration that night. This is a great time for us to come together as a church family and celebrate!!!
