“But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared”
Titus 3:4 ESV
WONDER: KINDNESS IN ACTION
The 2017 movie “Wonder” focuses on August “Auggie” Pullman, a young boy who has a rare medical facial deformity, which he refers to as “mandibulofacial dysostosis.” He has had 27 surgeries to improve his quality of life. He tries to fit in at a new school and show everyone that he is just an ordinary kid, no different than the rest of the world. As he walks into school on the first day, his mom prays, “Dear God, please let them be nice to him.” Isn’t that just about every parents prayer for their kids?
In Titus 3:4, the Apostle Paul reminded Titus that when Jesus appeared on earth we saw “the goodness and loving kindness” of God in the flesh. The point of Titus 3 is that Jesus changed our lives by showing us kindness. And since God has shown us kindness, we should show that same kindness to others.
With the epidemic of school shootings in our nation, it is obvious that our campuses desperately need more kindness. And with the political and racial tensions it is also obvious that our nation in general needs more kindness. When Jesus showed up he brought kindness with Him. And when we show up at work, home, school or anywhere, we should bring kindness with us. Where specifically in your daily routine do you think there needs to be more kindness shown? Read Titus 3 and underline the specific things the Bible ask us to do because we have been shown kindness from God.
