“And when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set an ambush against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, so that they were routed.”
2 Chronicles 20:22 ESV
THE POWER OF PRAISE
In the latest series of superhero movies, the Avengers or the Justice League heroes seek to protect the vulnerable human race from much more powerful alien invaders. We flock to see these movies because we connect with them. Deep down we know that we need someone greater than us to overcome an enemy we can’t defeat on our own.
In 2 Chronicles 20, God became the hero of the story. God responded to the praise of the nation of Israel in a powerful way by ambushing their enemies. Psalm 22:3 teaches that God inhabits the praises of His people. God’s is everywhere but there is something special about our awareness of His presence when we praise.
All this week we have taken a look at how praise can work in our lives. In 2 Chronicles 20, God began working as soon as they started singing and praising. Set aside some additional time today to sing and praise God. It may be in your shower, your car or somewhere else that makes you feel like a star on the Voice. It doesn’t matter where you choose. Just know that God will be there in a special way.
