TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 14
“Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
Matthew 6:25-26 ESV
CHASING PEACE: YOUR NET WORTH
Said the robin to the sparrow:
“I should really like to know
Why these anxious human beings
Rush about and worry so.”
Said the sparrow to the robin:
“Friend, I think that it must be
That they have no heavenly Father,
Such as cares for you and me.”
(His Eye is on the Sparrow, Civilla Martin)
One of the reasons Jesus gave the disciples to not worry in life was because of their net worth. Your net worth is your assets minus your liabilities. In spiritual terms, the value of who you are and what you already have in Christ is greater than what you currently want or need. Jesus pointed to the fact that God has given us life which is much more difficult than providing food and clothing. So logically, if God can give us life, He can definitely handle our material needs. The second illustration of our worth was the fact that we are so much more valuable than birds. If God values and provides for the birds, He will definitely provide for us.
If you are able, take some time today to get outside and observe nature. Ask God to show you how He takes care of the needs of nature. Then ask God for a fresh assurance of your worth and value to Him.
