“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:21 ESV
CHASING MORE: HEART OF THE CHASE
David Livingstone was a Scottish explorer, medical missionary and strong advocate to end the slave trade in West Africa. Livingstone was buried in England where he was born, but his heart was buried in the Africa he loved. At the foot of a tall mpundu tree in a small African village the natives dug a hole and placed in it the heart of this man who they loved and respected.
If your heart were to be buried in the place you loved most during life, where would it be? In your local bank? In an appropriate space down at the office? In your sports car or your favorite sports team’s stadium? Where is your heart? Jesus taught the easiest way to find out where your heart is, was to look at where your treasure is.
As you walk through today, ask God to show you where your heart really is. Often we say we value certain people or things but the tyranny of the urgent keeps us from investing our time, energy, affection and resources in those things we say we value the most. Ask God to help you align your resources with His heart and His values.
