“For He satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul He fills with good things.”
Psalm 107:9 ESV
SATISFIED IN GOD
There is an old fable about a dog that boasted of his ability as a runner. One day he chased a rabbit and failed to catch it. The other dogs ridiculed him because of his previous boasting. His reply was, “You must remember that the rabbit was running for his life, while I was only running for my dinner.”
Sometimes we run after things as a matter of survival and other times we chase after things to find satisfaction. Most of us know the Snickers motto, “Snickers satisfies.” And though a snicker may satisfy our physical hunger for a moment, it can’t satisfy our deepest longings and the little satisfaction it does provide doesn’t last very long.
It is God’s plan that we find satisfaction deep in our soul through our relationship with Him. He has designed us to crave satisfaction and fulfillment in life. Wanting to be satisfied isn’t bad. The question is what or who are we chasing to fill the need for satisfaction. What are the things that you pursue for satisfaction? Who are the people that you may look to for satisfaction? What are some things you can adjust in your life that might help you find lasting satisfaction through your relationship with Christ?
