MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 11
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”
John 15:4-5 ESV
ABIDING IS DEPENDING
Our nation was forever changed on September 11, 2001 because 19 Al-Qaeda terrorists had a mission to kill as many innocent Americans as possible. The attacks killed 2,997 people that day and injured over 6,000 others. The mission of Satan and evil is to steal, kill and destroy and lives.
In John 15, Jesus taught His followers that His mission was to produce the fruit of Christlikeness in our lives. Christlikeness makes the world a better place. Jesus said the key to producing Godly fruit in our lives was abiding in Him. Abiding in Jesus means that we are depending on Him for our salvation but also for our daily needs. When we abide in Him, we win and love wins!
Galatians 5:22 teaches that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The more we abide and depend on Jesus the more we should see these fruits in our lives. Which fruit do you think is the easiest for you to demonstrate? Which fruit do you think those around you believe you need the most help with? It’s so easy to justify our weaknesses by saying, “That’s just the way I am.” However, Jesus came with a mission to grow us. Ask God to grow you in the area that you believe you most need it.
