MONDAY, DECEMBER 23
“And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”
Luke 2:10 (ESV)
JESUS CAME FOR ALL THE PEOPLE
Some people believe NBA All-Star Lebron James is the G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time). On December 3rd, in a game, he stopped dribbling, carried the ball in the palm of his hands a few steps and then started dribbling again. This is a clear traveling violation that wasn’t called. Lebron admitted it was one of the worst mistakes of his career. What made this worse was the referees didn’t call the traveling violation and play continued. Some complained that this was just another case of the biggest stars getting special treatment.
In basketball the same rules should apply to everyone but that’s not always the case. However, the good news is that the Christmas gift of Jesus was for everyone. And that will never change. On the first Christmas morning, the angels announced to the shepherds that the good news was for “all the people.” Jesus didn’t just come for a certain select group of people or the “G.O.A.T.s.”
Yesterday we heard a message in church about who Jesus came for and why they needed Him to come. This week we are going to review a few of those types of people. Today, I want you to think about how you realized you needed Jesus. Can you remember a time when you didn’t think you needed Him? What were the reasons you believed you didn’t need Him? What did God use to show you your need for Jesus? Pray for anyone you know who doesn’t think they need Jesus. Pray God would show them their need.
