40 Beware, therefore, lest what is said in the Prophets should come about:
41 “‘Look, you scoffers, be astounded and perish; for I am doing a work in your days,
a work that you will not believe, even if one tells it to you.’”
Acts 13:40-41 (ESV)
A WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT: WE’RE INVITED
My brother detonates explosives for the police department’s bomb squad. He came to my house one day sporting a distinctive T-shirt. The front read, “Hazardous Device Technician.” When he turned around, I read the back: “If you see me running, try to keep up!” (Jodie L. Nida, Reader’s Digest).
The Apostle Paul warned the religious leaders of the danger of rejecting Jesus as God’s Son in Acts 13:40-41. This is the third and concluding section of Paul’s sermon. The Gospel is good news to all who believe, but it is “bad news,” very bad news to all who reject it! As Jack Arnold says, “A basic part of proclaiming the gospel is to warn men of the certain judgment to come if one does not have a Savior. We have not really preached a full gospel until we have preached judgment.”
Cole emphasized in the sermon that we have been invited to repent and believe in Jesus for the salvation of our souls. He also emphasized that we have been invited to share Jesus with others. Have you accepted both of those invitations?
Thank God that you don’t have to fear hell because you have accepted His offer of salvation. Accept God’s invitation to share the good news of Jesus with others.
