ACCEPTING HIS FORGIVENESS
Christ’s offer to forgive us for all our sins is contingent on our faith in Him and His work on the cross for us. Only those who understand their need for forgiveness are prepared to accept the forgiveness that Jesus offers.
There’s a Spanish story of a father and son who had become estranged. The son ran away, and the father set off to find him. He searched for months to no avail. Finally, in a last desperate effort to find him, the father put an ad in a Madrid newspaper. The ad read: Dear Paco, meet me in front of this newspaper office at noon on Saturday. All is forgiven. I love you—your father. On Saturday, 800 Pacos showed up, looking for forgiveness and love from their fathers.
Here is the good news: God’s offer to meet us in our guilt and reconcile with us still stands today. Have you trusted in Christ and received His offer of grace and reconciliation? Don’t keep carrying around guilt and shame. Accept Christ’s full forgiveness and begin to walk in His grace.
