“And behold, some men were bringing on a bed a man who was paralyzed, and they were seeking to bring him in and lay him before Jesus,”
Luke 5:18 (ESV)
HELPING PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY HOME REQUIRES GETTING INVOLVED
Example is greater than precept. A gentleman was trying to find his way around a strange city, and the person of whom he inquired was vague and unsatisfactory. Another, coming up and seeing the stranger’s perplexity, asked him where he wished to go. On being told, he replied, “Just come along with me, I am going that way myself.” When parents and teachers can say to a child, “Come along with me, I am going that way myself,” they talk in a language any child can understand (Moody Monthly).
In Luke 5:18, we find a paralyzed man who didn’t just need someone to teach him about Jesus. The paralyzed man needed someone who would take him to Jesus and show him Jesus. In this passage, it took more than one man to get this man to Jesus.
It’s never just one person’s job to make a difference for Christ. Jesus made it very clear that He wanted all of His disciples involved in helping bring people to Christ. On Sunday, we heard from Mike Lindeman on ways we could be involved. Did God move your heart to get involved in any one of those areas? Have you obeyed what God asked you to do?
