When the woman realized that she could not stay hidden, she began to tremble and fell to her knees before Him. The whole crowd heard her explain why she had touched Him and that she had been immediately healed. “Daughter,” He said to her, “your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
Luke 8:47-48 (NLT)
There was a news story about a lawsuit in Tennessee. It seems that an evangelist was being sued for $1 million by a woman who claimed the evangelist-healer tried to punch a demon out of her stomach. The punch knocked the lady over onto another woman whose hip was broken by the fall. Both the women were hospitalized for extended periods. They were demanding compensation for hospital costs and punitive damages. (Baptist and Reflector)
Thankfully Jesus doesn’t have to kick people to heal them. This is the only time in the Gospels that Jesus used the word “daughter” to address a woman. This affectionate term would immediately reassure the woman and calm her fears. Her touch coincided with her healing writing “Immediately (after she touched the fringe of Jesus’ garment) the flow of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction.” When she found Jesus, she found healing, peace, and a relationship with God. And on that day, she also found out that she was fully known and fully loved by God.
Jesus didn’t heal people simply for the sake of healing. It was to reveal Himself to them and those around. The woman in Luke 8 found much more than physical healing when she got Jesus and peace. In what ways did Jesus heal you when you started a relationship with Him.
Praise God for the list of ways He has healed you. Thank God for fully knowing you and fully loving you.
