10 “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.

– Luke 16:10

Faithful or Famous?

In this passage, Jesus teaches us how to be righteous in stewarding the financial resources he has graciously given us. Jesus makes it plain: what we do with little is what we will do with a lot. Right or wrong, how you handle small things is correlated to how you handle the big things.

Jesus is not concerned with the measure of our wealth, he is concerned with the condition of our hearts.

John MacArthur says it this way,

Circumstances don’t determine faithfulness; character does.

Here’s what we know to be true: faithfulness does not make headlines. Faithfulness is not glamorous. Faithfulness is slow, steady, and sure. Faithfulness doesn’t make headlines, but it makes for a really good life.

God hasn’t called us to be famous, he’s called us to be faithful. He hasn’t called us to do what is glamourous, he’s called us to do what is good!

May we heed the wisdom from this teaching that what we will do with a little is what we will do with a lot. And may we be faithful to what God has ordained for us here on this earth and do right by him.

Our Father,

Thank you for your Word. We pray that by your Spirit, Luke 16:10  would change us into the likeness of Christ. May we be faithful to what you have entrusted to you. Help us, Lord to honor you from the smallest thing to the biggest thing. We long to honor you. Father, we pray this now through The Son, and By the Spirit. Amen.
