FRIDAY, JANUARY 29
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Philippians 4:8 (ESV)
ANXIETY: KEY CHOICES
An angel appeared at a faculty meeting and told the dean that in return for his unselfish service, the dean would be rewarded with his choice of wealth, wisdom, or beauty. Without hesitating, the dean selected wisdom. “It is done!” the angel said and then disappeared into a cloud of smoke. All of the other members of the faculty stared at the dean with amazement. Finally, one of them whispered, “Now that you have infinite wisdom, Dean, say something.” The dean looked at them and said, “I should have taken the money.”
Mike concluded the message on Sunday, reminding us that we need to make some critical choices in dealing with anxiety. Philippians 4:8 gives us a list of things we should focus on. Mike also gave us a list:
- Turn off the tv.
- Take a break from social media.
- Restart your own devotional time with the Lord. Bible and Prayer.
- Build back your prayer life.
- Let others know about your anxiety. And see a counselor if necessary.
Have you made any of these choices this week? If so, has it made a difference? If not, why not choose one today?
Thank God for giving you the power to know what’s right and to choose what’s good. Thank God for providing relief from anxiety.
