THURSDAY, JUNE 16

13 But Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid! Go ahead and do just what you’ve said,

but make a little bread for me first.

Then use what’s left to prepare a meal for yourself and your son.”

1 Kings 17:13 (NLT)

REMINDERS FOR TRUSTING GOD: REMEMBER THAT IF IT’S EASY, IT’S NOT FAITH.

One time there were two farmers who were going through a period of terrible drought, they were at a place of discouragement. One farmer went ahead and plowed his fields, trusting God to send the rain. The other farmer thought, “What’s the use? Planting time came, still no rain.” The first farmer planted his seed, the other farmer mocked and made fun. The first farmer said, “God will send the rain.” A month went by, still no rain, but the first farmer kept his faith and trusted God for deliverance. One morning the sky grew dark and the rain began to fall, bringing fresh life to the first farmer’s crop. He did the right thing and trusted God. The other farmer lost everything because of unbelief.

The widow knew there was a drought and her supplies were running low but she still acted in faith. It wasn’t an easy decision but it was a faith decision. Elijah obeyed God at the risk of his own life. Again, it wasn’t an easy decision but it was a faith decision. Jesus’ followers must learn to take one step at a time. Our Father only shows us one step at a time.

Reflection

When you put God first, your needs are met. You can’t always see how God is going to meet your needs and that is where faith comes in. 2 Corinthians 5:7 challenges us to “walk by faith and not by sight.” When was the last time you had to trust God for something when you weren’t sure of the outcome?

Praise/Prayer

Praise God for a few specific times in the past when He has honored your faith and provided for you in a way that you did not see coming. Ask God to show you the next baby step He wants you to take in faith.

Sundays: 9:30 & 11:00AM
