We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
Romans 3:22 (NLT2)
MY RESPONSE IS TO TRUST
One night a house caught fire, and a young boy was forced to flee to the roof. The father stood on the ground below, with outstretched arms, calling to his son, “Jump! I’ll catch you.” He knew the boy had to jump to save his life. All the boy could see was flame, smoke, and blackness. As you can imagine, he was afraid to leave the roof. His father kept yelling: “Jump! I will catch you.”
Placing your faith in Jesus is like this. Trusting Jesus isn’t blind faith. It’s responding to a voice that calls you to trust. His voice may not be audible, but it is undeniable. Jesus said, “No one can come to me, unless the Father who sent me makes them want to come” (John 6:44 CEV). When the Spirit draws you and woos you towards Christ, you get a glimpse of the Father’s love and grace. But trusting Jesus is scary. The prospect of dying to your self-controlled life feels uncomfortable and unnatural. Part of the Spirit’s work is to convince you that staying where you are will only lead to death. When you say yes to Jesus, you leap into the life you were always meant to live.
How has your faith in Jesus benefitted you and your family? What fears keep you from trusting Jesus more? Give those fears to the Lord in prayer today and ask for greater faith in those areas of your life. Think back to that moment when you came to faith in Jesus as your Savior. Take a few moments to remember what was stirring in your heart and mind. Thank the Lord for sending His Spirit to rescue you from the darkness of sin.
