“These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
John 14:25-26 (ESV)
THE SPIRIT HELPS ME KNOWS WHAT IS TRUE
Casey Sabella wrote, “While in India on a brief mission trip, I was summoned to the home of an official who was sick. He wanted me to agree with him in prayer. On the way, we traveled along a river in the dead of night. We carried Coleman lanterns to light our way. As we walked the narrow path towards his house, everyone stopped abruptly. “TWAP!” On the end of a large rod, hung a lifeless snake. The guide in front of me spotted the poisonous beast and killed it with one strike. The lantern illuminated our path and revealed the presence of an enemy who might have killed us.
When something is illuminated you can see or understand it better. The Holy Spirit illuminates where we are in life and what is up ahead. Jesus promised a supernatural teacher in John 14:25 and 26, a resident truth teacher. First of all, the Spirit instructed the disciples in writing the Bible without error. Now the Spirit teaches us to understand what is recorded in Scripture.
God has revealed His truth primarily through the Bible. And the primary way the Holy Spirit helps us understand truth is by helping us understand the Bible. That means we must continue to search Scriptures and ask the Spirit to help us understand what we are reading and studying.
Thank God for shining light on truth so we can understand it. Praise the Spirit of God for always leading us to the truth.
