WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow Me,
you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
John 8:12 (NLT)
FOLLOWING JESUS WILL CHANGE ME FROM THE INSIDE OUT
A boy once heard his Sunday School teacher say Jesus was the light of the world. After class, he went up to his teacher and said, “If Jesus really is the light of the world, I wish He’d come hang out in my house. It’s awfully dark where I live.”
Is it dark where you live? Jesus changes our dark places into places filled with light. Light is necessary for life itself. It sets our biological clocks, triggers in our brains the sensations of color, and supplies the energy for things to grow. Have you heard of Seasonal Affective Disorder? Winter is a tough time because the sun often disappears, and depression can set in. Interestingly, only about 1% of Floridians have Seasonal Affective Disorder, while 10% of Alaskans struggle with the disorder. One of the best treatments available is bright light therapy.
Mike explained on Sunday that Jesus lights our life from the inside out. When we place our faith in Christ, He gives us a new heart. In John 1:4, we read this about Jesus: “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” God wants us to have eternal life, but He also wants us to experience abundant life here and now.
Darkness speaks of death, ignorance, sin, and so many other negative things in life. Where do you feel like you are battling darkness? Ask Jesus to shine His light in those areas.
Thank God for giving you the light of life and the promise of not walking in darkness. Thank Him for shining His light in your house.
