“How I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again. I know you have always been concerned for me, but you didn’t have the chance to help me.”
Philippians 4:10 (NLT2)
THE POWER OF CONNECTION: OPPORTUNITY
Somebody asked Winston Churchill one time, “What most prepared you to lead Great Britain through World War II?” For a period of time, Great Britain was under fierce attack from Nazi Germany as it strived for world domination. This was Churchill’s response: “It was the time I repeated a class in grade school.” The questioner said, “You mean you flunked a grade?” Churchill said, “I never flunked in my life. I was given a second opportunity to get it right.”
The church at Philippi had not gotten it wrong but they did have another opportunity to do it right again. Paul praised the Lord that they were concerned again. He knew that the only reason they hadn’t responded to his need sooner was because there wasn’t an opportunity.
As we wrap up this week on the power of connection God may be giving you another opportunity to connect with someone. It may be that you got it wrong the first time and need another opportunity to get it right. Or it may just be that it’s been a while since you reached out to connect and now it’s time again. Every day we should ask God to open our eyes to the opportunities He is giving us to share the love of Christ. Pray now and ask God to show you an opportunity.
