ANCHOR OF HOPE: GOD IS TRUSTWORTHY
Traditionally when you are called upon to testify in a court of you law you are asked to put your left hand on the Bible, raise your right hand and promise to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you God. That process is a promise to tell the truth based on the truthfulness of the Bible, which is something greater than yourself.
The problem God has when swearing to tell the truth is that He has no one and nothing greater than Himself to base His promise on. So in Hebrews 6:13 when God makes a promise to Abraham He swears by Himself. God puts His own reputation on the line to assure Abraham and us that He will keep His promises.
One of our Anchors of Hope is that God is a promise keeper. God can be trusted with anything He has asked us to give to Him. The foundation to our assurance is the character and nature of God. That means it’s vitally important for us to know who God is and what God is like. Take a few moments today and write a description of God based on what you know about His character and nature from the Bible.
