FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 12

“He will tell you how you and everyone in your household can be saved!”

“As I began to speak,” Peter continued,

“the Holy Spirit fell on them, just as he fell on us at the beginning.”

Acts 11:15 (NLT)

LIVING SENT: BE PREPARED TO TELL OTHERS HOW THEY CAN KNOW JESUS

Jack Cooper in Dallas is an ophthalmologist. Instead of the trite, “Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country” flip chart standard for eye exams, he made one that says, “God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.” He would do his cataract surgery, giving his patients eyesight again. Then when they would come in for a checkup he would say, “Let’s see how you’re doing.” He would have them read, “God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.” “Wow! I can read! God loves me and has a wonderful plan for my…. What does this mean?” (Howard G. Hendricks, Say It with Love).

It is safe to say that Dr. Cooper was ready to tell people how they could know Jesus when they asked what his flip chart meant. In Acts 11, the Holy Spirit knew that Peter was ready to tell Cornealeous how to know Jesus when he arrived. After Peter shared, all of Cornealeous’ household was saved.

Reflection

Our lives can be great examples but the only way people can be saved is if we tell them with our words. 1 Peter 3:15b says, “And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.” Are you ready? What would you tell someone if they wanted to know Jesus?

Praise

Praise God for the simplicity of the Gospel. Thank God for the opportunities He is going to provide for you to share with others.

Sundays: 9:30 & 11:00AM
