ANCHOR OF HOPE: GOD DOESN’T CHANGE
Maria Lucia Rivera and Sixto Rodriguez Nogueira’s audition for America’s Got Talent consisted of performing a quick clothes change routine to Jennifer Lopez’s “Let’s Get Loud.” Lucia changed outfits 9 times in 90 seconds. Lucia changed entire outfits almost instantly behind multiple black and blue curtains, with Sixto changing once as well. Finally, the duo quickly switched host Tyra Banks’ outfit, leaving the judges stunned. Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell all voted “Yes”, sending the duo to the next round of judge’s cuts. I know some of you wish your spouse could get dressed that quickly.
Maria and Sixto did a lot of changing in 90 seconds. Well, the author of Hebrews reminds us that there are a couple of things that will never change. Those two things are who God is and God’s inability to lie. Hebrews 6:18 says, “it is impossible for God to lie.” He has promised us heaven and that promise will never go away.
Even in the midst of the stormiest of times we can trust His word for the rest of our days here. Yesterday, you were asked to write a description of God’s character and nature. Today, think about that description and thank God for never changing. You may pray something like this, “God thank you for always being ________.” And fill in the blank with some of God’s attributes that mean the most to you.
