The night before Peter was to be placed on trial, he was asleep, fastened with two chains between two soldiers. Others stood guard at the prison gate.

Acts 12:6 (NLT)

A little boy offered up a Thanksgiving Day prayer for the family and prayed: “Dear God, this is Jimmy. Thank you for Thanksgiving and Christmas and all of the holidays. Thank you for the turkey and dressing and Mom and Dad and even for my little sister, even though sometimes she can be a pain. Thank you for books and TV and a game boy. Thank you for loving us. Oh, yeah. And take care of yourself, God. Because without you, we’re sunk. Amen.” (Joel Vicente)

Little Jimmy believed God cared for his family and for the details of his life. The Apostle Peter also believed God cared for him. Peter was so confident in God’s care for him that he was able to sleep in a Roman prison knowing that wicked Herod might have him killed much like he had already had John killed.

Can you imagine having so much peace that you could sleep knowing you might lose your life for the cause of Christ? The only two possibilities are that you are either delusional or you absolutely trust in the care and will of God. What are the things that are keeping you awake at night? Do you believe God cares about those things?

1 Peter 5:7 (NLT) invites us to, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” Thank God for the invitation to give Him all your worries. Thank God for caring. Now give Him your worries in prayer.
