WHEN I FOLLOW JESUS IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO STAY THE SAME
The Maury Povich show started in 1991 and has tackled a variety of issues that have included using a paternity test to determine who is a child’s father. The show has become infamous for the words “You are the father” or “You are not the Father.”
In 1 John 3:10 the apostle John gives us a spiritual paternity test. He is helping us to determine who is a child of God and who is a child of the devil. Daniel Akin’s following comment is interesting, “The foolproof test in this paternity dispute is to take swabs of lifestyle, and the one that shows no evidence of someone doing the right thing can’t be God’s child.” The children of God and the children of the devil are clearly distinguished by the way they live.
Reflection
On Sunday Mike reminded us that it’s impossible to be a genuine Christian and to not show any evidence of a changed life. What are the swabs of your lifestyle that indicate you are a child of God?
