FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 24
Great fear gripped the entire church and everyone else who heard what had happened.
Acts 5:11 (NLT)
A WORD OF WARNING
Jodie Nida writes, “My brother detonates explosives for the police department’s bomb squad. He came to my house one day sporting a distinctive T-shirt. The front read, “Hazardous Device Technician.” When he turned around, I read the back: “If you see me running, try to keep up!” (Reader’s Digest).
When the church saw the death of Anainias and Saphirra they ran the other way. Acts 5:11 says they had “great fear.” That is literally “mega fear.” Someone wrote: It is worth noting that the early church moved from the “mega power” and “mega grace” of Acts 4:33+, to the “mega fear” of Acts 5:11! And power, grace and fear are all still important to the vitality and effectiveness of God’s Church.
Mike shared the principle: No one is above reproach. Keep your guard up! Can you recall a sin or struggle you never thought you would have but eventually did? Are there any areas of your spiritual life where you may be over confident and not as guarded as you should be?
Praise God for constructive “mega fear” that leads us to His “mega grace” and “mega power.”
