Where God Directs, He Provides

“Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah: “Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. So Elijah did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there.”

1 Kings 17:2-3, 5

Several years ago while dead asleep, God woke me up. He clearly impressed on my heart to raise the the needed funds to provide a luncheon for all the coaches at a large local high school in my community. No other directions and no other instructions. Simply make the first step by faith and start the process of raising the needed resources.

I obeyed. I didn’t ask God how. I didn’t question God why. I simply began making calls to friends in my community, shared the vision with them and made the “big ask.” Within two days God provided the $1,200 that was needed for the event.

I’m here to testify that God’s direction always includes God’s provision. God told Elijah, “Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan” No other directions. No other instructions. Elijah simply obeyed what God asked and waited for the next step. I assure you, when God directs, He will provide.

Did you notice that God never told Elijah what the second step would be? He didn’t, until Elijah had taken the first step. We must learn to trust God one step at a time and one day at a time.

Often times, God will not move on our behalf until we dive in and take the first step (just ask Peter when Jesus asked him to get out of the boat and walk to Him on the water). Are we nervous? Yes! Are we scared? Yes! Do it anyway. Dive in. Be obedient.

I heard it said long ago; “Attempt something so great for God, that unless He steps in and provides, it is destined for failure.”

I’m not sure what you’re facing or what challenges you may be enduring at this moment. However, if God has asked you to step out in faith, rest assured, He will provide what is needed.

Be available. Be obedient. Trust God. He owns it all anyway!
