Expiration Date

By December 16, 2020 No Comments

It is the same fate for everybody—the righteous and the wicked, good people, bad people, the nice and the nasty, worshipers and non-worshipers, committed and uncommitted. Everyone is lumped together, everyone’s fate is death.

Ecclesiastes 9:3

While going through my refrigerator recently, I opened up a container of yogurt for breakfast. Upon opening it, I sensed an abnormal smell. Then looking closer, I observed an odd color in the yogurt. Immediately I looked at the outside of the container. To my surprise the expiration date was a week past. Needless to say, I discarded it in the trash, ceiling it’s fate.

In a similar way, Solomon reminds us that every human being will experience the same fate, death! We all have an expiration date. Whether you’re a Christian or Non-Christian. Religious or Non Religious. Committed or Un-Committed. Kind or Mean. Successful or Un-Successful. Educated or Illiterate. Rich or Poor. Bad or Good. Godly or Evil. Your fate and my fate is death!

So the question becomes, how are you living your life right here and right now? Are you living it “Under the Sun” for your own self-centered desires and wants—or are you living it “Above the Sun” to glorify God in everything you do? Focused on what He wants to do in you and through you to Build His Kingdom while you live on this earth?

Jesus said it this way: “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

“Above the Sun or Under the Sun”—that is the question you need to wrestle with regarding how you’re living your life? Life is fleeting. Life is short. Death is sudden. Death can be unexpected. How you choose to live your life will determine the impact and influence you’ll have in eternity when your “Expiration Date” is up.

Choose Wisely!
