Finish Well

“Moses was 120 years old when he died, yet his eyesight was clear, and he was as strong as ever.”

Deuteronomy 34:7

As a former professional baseball player one of the characteristics that was continually drilled into me as an athlete was to “Finish the Game.” Don’t quit. Don’t give in. Don’t give up. Finish what you’ve started. Keep grinding. Stand firm. Keep competing!

I like to say it this way: “Finish Well!”

Moses was this type of man. You see, God sent Moses out in the desert at 40 years old. For 40 years God equipped him, trained him and prepared him to lead the Children of Israel out of Egyptian bondage. Then, at 80 years old, God called him back to Egypt to lead that very task. For the next 40 years, Moses led the Children of Israel through the desert up to the Promised Land. Then he died. Still healthy. Still with good eyesight. Still with vigor and strength in his step. Moses finished well!!

So what are a few key things we can do in order to finish life well?

  • Stay faithful in prayer!
  • Be strong and courageous!
  • Value a trusted friend for accountability!
  • Show God’s love to people!

How about you? Do you have a deep relentless desire to finish well in life? What actions steps do you have in place to help you accomplish a life of finishing well?  If you don’t, it’s never too late to begin. Just ask Moses! Pray and ask God to help you finish life well— by staying faithful in prayer, being strong and courageous, valuing a trusted accountability partner and showing God’s love to people all around you. Because in the end, life on earth will soon be past—only what counts for Christ will last.

Finish Well!

Be Worth Being,

Kevin
