This is the account of Jacob and his family. When Joseph was 17 years old, he often tended his father’s flocks.
Joseph was 30 years old when he began serving in the court of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. He inspected the entire land of Egypt.
If you’ve never studied the life of Joseph, I’d encourage you to read his story in the Book of Genesis. Here are just a few things we glean from his story:
- At 17, Joseph was thrown into a pit by his brothers and left for dead!
- He was trafficked and sold into slavery by those same brothers!
- He was entrapped by Potiphar’s wife and thrown into prison!
- He was forgotten by Pharaoh’s cup bearer and left in prison two years!
However, Joseph never once violated his character or his conduct; instead, he remained faithful and obedient to God and to those in position of authority over him. Thirteen years later…God promoted Joseph from the Pit to the Palace.
Promotion often takes time! So I remind and encourage you today . . .
- Be Patient
- Be Likeable
- Be Coachable
- Be Reliable
- Be Adaptable
- Be Honorable
And above all else, remain faithful and obedient to God. Your time will come.
