Feeling Sheepish isn’t all Baaaaaad

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

John 10:27

Greetings!

It wasn’t long ago that I observed a herd of sheep grazing in a pasture. I was fascinated at how this herd of sheep would not listen to the voice of other people who called out to them.  They would only follow the voice of their shepherd when he called them.

In a similar way we are like sheep. Sheep are actually very dumb. They are not one of the smarter animals out there. They have a tendency to wander off. They tend to get away from the herd and get injured, harmed or even killed by another animal.

However they will listen to their shepherd’s voice and will run to their shepherd when called. The shepherd feeds them and cares for their well being. He knows all of them and they know his voice. They will follow the shepherds voice because they know he will take care and feed them.

Jesus is the Great Shepherd. He says in the verse above “My sheep hear My voice, I know them and they follow Me.” So the questions need to be asked: Do you know the Shepherd’s voice?  Do you recognize His voice? Are you following Him? Like sheep, we are prone to wander. When we don’t follow the Shepherd and stay close to Him we can get into big trouble.

So today and everyday, I encourage you run to the Great Shepherd when He calls out to you. Listen to His voice. Stay close to the Shepherd, Jesus Christ. Don’t wonder off. He loves you. He wants the best for your life. Trust Him!

Have a great week!
