Take the First Step

“And Peter answered Him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.”

So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.”

Matthew 14:28-29

Take the First Step

Sometimes in life all it takes is a little nudging; starting a new business, going back to college, changing careers, chasing a dream, going into full-time vocational ministry, the list could be vast.

Peter, who was a “Type A” personality, who would react and not respond, asked Jesus to “command him to walk on water and come to Him.”

However, there was one action-step required of Peter. He had to get out of the boat and take a step. He would have never walked on the water if he would have just sat there and done nothing. Peter had to take an action-step by taking the first step towards Jesus. When he did, Jesus responded to Peter’s faith.

Our enemy, Satan wants to paralyze us. He wants us to do nothing. He doesn’t want us to take a step towards Jesus. He wants to neutralize us. I remind and encourage you today, do not give in!

Make yourself available to be used by God. He is not looking at your ability, but your availability. However, that requires you activating your faith by taking the “first step” out of the boat and trusting God to respond on your behalf.

I’m not sure where you are or what you’re facing in your life at this very moment. However, I encourage you to fix your eyes on Jesus. Don’t focus on the size of the waves around your life. Don’t grow weary watching the torrential rain. Don’t fear the gale force winds, but trust your Savior. He’s got you!

When you do, watch what happens in your life.

Take the first step!

Be Worth Being,

Kevin
