20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God.” -- 2 Corinthians 5:20
Christ's Ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20)
This week, Mike continued our GAME CHANGERS series, where we investigated how to make a difference in our community and in the world for Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:20 describes our identity as Christ's ambassadors and our message and plea to our friends, family, and community is: "Be reconciled to God".
Yet, a common misconception is that this task of ministry is reserved for pastors and church staff members. This could not be further from the truth.
"All of life is an expression of our ministry and worship to God. Ministry is not something that only full-time pastors do; in fact, the role of church leaders is “to equip the saints for the work of ministry” (Ephesians 4:11-12). The saints—all believers in the church—are to do the work of ministry. God has given us gifts that we are to use to serve others (1 Peter 4:10)." - Watermark Community Church
With that in mind, let me remind you: We are ambassadors for Christ. An ambassador is an accredited diplomat or representative sent by a country as its official representative to a foreign country. In the same way, we (you!) have been sent by the Lord as an official representative of Him to the places and spaces you live in!
God has made you his representative in your:
- neighborhood
- social club
- friend group
- pickleball team
- kid's school
- etc!
And as his representative, we share the message that Christ lived and died for, "Be reconciled to God." Essentially, come back to what you were made for. A right relationship with God now and for eternity.
May we be faithful ambassadors of Jesus Christ, today!
