“Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also. 4 You know the way to where I am going.” -- John 14:1-4

What He Plans For Us (John 14:1-4)

At the hearing of these words, the disciples of Jesus were bewildered and discouraged. In chapters 12 and 13, Jesus had stated that:

• he way going away(John 12:8,35; 13:33),
• he was going to die(John 12:32-33),
• that one of the twelve was a traitor(John 13:21),
• that Peter would deny Christ three times(John 13:38),
• that all the disciples would desert Jesus (Matthew 26:31)

The weight of all these realities would be a lot for the disciples to take in. The weight was heavy and the road was step for these disciples in this moment.Do you ever feel like the weight of life is overwhelming? Do you ever feel discouraged in your current life circumstance? Whether your family or friends or career or health or finances...sometimes discouragement in the place that we live. With that in mind, hear the words of Jesus:“Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also. 4 You know the way to where I am going." Don't let your heart be troubled. Do not be terrorized by your circumstances because Jesus has prepared a place for you in heaven. Heaven is the Father's home.We are able to face today's trials because we have confident expectation of tomorrow's destination. The old hymn "Because He Lives" captures it so well.

And because He lives
I can face tomorrow
Because He lives
All fear is gone
Because I know
He holds the future
And life is worth the living
Just because He lives

Today, do not let your hearts be troubled because we have a confident hope of a home in heaven!
