Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Revelation 3:20
Opening the Door by Kevin Burrell
Recently, while traveling out of state, I stopped at a restaurant after my game for dinner. Upon arriving, I noticed there were many people waiting to be seated. So I put my name on the list and waited outside near my car for my name to be called. When my name was called it then became my responsibility to open the door and walk in. No one came to find me. No one ran me down. I heard the voice of the host call my name over the intercom, and at that moment it became my responsibility to open the door of the restaurant and enjoy dinner alongside the other patrons, or to walk away and go elsewhere.
In the verse above, Jesus says these words:—“If anyone hears My voice and opens the door...”
First we hear—then we open. You see, Jesus is the perfect gentleman. He will never barge in the door of your heart. He whispers. He calls. He knocks. He bids you to open the door, so that He can come in and dine with you. He deeply desires to have an abiding, intimate relationship with you, every single day.
However, it is our responsibility when we hear His voice to open the door of our heart and invite Him in. He will never come in uninvited. He will never force His way in. He is the perfect gentleman. He simply and patiently waits for you to open the door of your life and invite Him in. If you have not made that decision, don’t hesitate to make it today.
Love God. Love People. Live Sent.
Be Worth Being,
Kevin
