“Let us be glad and rejoice, and let us give honor to Him. For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and [His bride] has prepared herself.”
Revelation 19:7
It was Friday, February 25, 2011. Emma Howard and Chris Greenslade tied the knot at Christ the King Church in Burnside, New Zealand after Howard was rescued from ruins of the Pyne-Gould building.Emma Howard recounted how she was trapped "in a fetal position" for a terrifying 6½ hours after she was thrown from her chair when the 6.3 magnitude quake struck at lunchtime.Trapped in the rubble, Ms. Howard texted her fiance, fellow accountant Chris Greenslade, who raced to the building from his nearby workplace. He continued texting Ms. Howard, reassuring her he was on his way to rescue her and take her home."He just ran to me, expecting to find me standing on the street, ready to take me home" she said. Mr. Greenslade frantically dug among the remains for hours, pulling out other people as he searched for his bride-to-be.He was photographed carrying Ms. Howard to safety in one of the first images that emerged of rescue efforts after the quake. The bride, whose strapless gown revealed multiple bruises from the ordeal, was lost for words amid the media scrum. “There aren't words,'' she said. Mr. Greenslade said there was no thought of cancelling the wedding. “For me, it was just natural. She survived that [collapse], so it was meant to happen,'' he said.Allow me to speak a word of encouragement into your life today. I am not sure how much of life’s rubble is on top of you right now. What has you weighted down, pinned down, trapped, feeling abandoned or feeling alone? Here is what I know: God loves you so much! There is coming a day that Jesus Christ is coming for His “Bride,” which is called “The Church.” He bought His Church with His very own blood, dying on the cross. If you have repented (turned around) from your lifestyle of sin and disobedience, and committed your life to Him, then you are His child and He is coming to rescue you and take you home to be with Him forever. He is the “Groom” and you are His “Bride.” He loves you with an everlasting love and He is coming for you very very soon. Like Chris Greenslade was to his fiancé Emma Howard, Jesus is your rescue story. Walk towards Him today and give Him all your worship, honor and praise.Be Worth Being,KevinSUBSCRIBE TO "OVER THE HUMP" DEVOTIONALKevin Burrell has worked in professional baseball as both a player and MLB scout for the past 39 years, and currently serves as an area scouting supervisor.
